mumbaii

so we rode first class from Goa to Mumbai and boy was it a dream. sadly it was during the day so we didn't get to take advantage of the super comfy sleep area. also we got stuck with two other folk for part of the way but one guy I think was a VIP because they kept checking in on him and brining him big trays of food and tea. He taught us about the "cool breeze of the holy ghost" which you can feel when you meditate and tap in to the "energy" of the universe.

We went to this Muslim place called Hali Aji. Apparently some important guy's body floated here and they built a temple around it and there's a long walkway out to it which gets covered during high tide and makes it look like the buildings are floating.

It seemed like mostly people just came here to climb around on the rocks and wade in the sea.

I'm sad to say I've become slightly indifferent to the conditions of India. The endless trash everywhere (at least in cities), the smog and general cluster of gross, gooey things is just part of the scenery. The wild cows and dogs and goats and cats all eat the trash and I'm sure some of the people do as well. There are never any trash cans anywhere and people simply discard things as they are walking or out the window of trains.

In Goa Matt discovered the now infamous "Tomato Salad" which as you can see is simply a plate of tomatoes. For some reason Matt now seeks to order this for every meal.

Today we went to the Aquarium. It was the smallest, saddest aquarium I've ever seen. Most of the tanks were dirty and had a few rocks piled in the corner with like 2 small fish. The sea turtle was really cool and so were the moon fish. Sadly some guy caught us with our camera and pointed to all the "No Photography" signs, which was shortly followed by a swarm of Indians pulling out their cell phones and taking pictures.

The markets here are really cool except the one thing I hate about India is that you can't simply LOOK at things you have to have them thrust at and sold to you constantly. If you even look toward someone's stall they yell "yes, Shopping!" or "Hello Madam!" etc and in fear of being hassled into buying something I have no intention of buying I run away.

Some of the only modern street art I've seen in all of India I really liked the style.

Tomorrow we are going to the Planetarium and Science Center and then soon to Elephanta Island where there are caves and stuff.
